Dorling Kindersley Ltd

My role, that of an Historical Cartographic Consultant, was in practice manyfold in the preparation of Dorling Kindersley’s Atlas of World History. After I had initial discussions about the way the content was to be organized with Andrew Heritage and other editors, I compiled a great number of the maps of this atlas. This concerned especially the featured World Maps, but I also compiled numerous other maps of several spreads of regional histories. On occasion I gave specialist advice on certain issues that were presenting a problem. When cartography was completed, I checked the accuracy of nearly all the maps of the atlas, not only those that were the result of my contribution. This led in some instances to almost complete recompilation, and substantial improvements of the content in many others. All in all, few maps remained untouched by my contribution in one way or another.
